Alright ladies the sun is out, the temperature is up, and it’s time to get to the BEACH. But first we have to make sure our beach bags are packed. Here are our essentials for a sunny day! Each of these items are from sustainable businesses so that we can have not only a hot girl summer but a sustainable girl summer too ;)

1) Towel – Of course.

We recommend QuiQuattro towels. They have a variety of designs of authentic Turkish towels. These towels are special because they come from a company that are a fair wage global marketplace providing job opportunities to female artisans in Turkey. The towels are lightweight and absorbent Turkish cotton and bamboo that quick dries. Plus, 10% of the profits go to educating women in Turkey!

2) Sunglasses – duh.

Sunglasses can be made out of all types of recycled materials! Woodzee is a recommendation of ours. Their collection of women’s sunglasses includes frames crafted from wood, acetate, metal, and recycled skateboards!

3) Chapstick - a necessity.

What makes a Chapstick eco-friendly is often its ingredients. There are many brands that fit this description but if you would like to indulge a little, we recommend Indie Lee’s Lip Treat. They emphasize that they, “believe it's time to embrace conscious consumerism. We create top-rated skincare that is always clean, cruelty-free & created with sustainable practices.”

4) Sunscreen – Throwing it back to our last blog.

Check it out for a list of sustainable brands that protect both your skin and the earth!

5) Water bottle – hydration is keyyyy

Ditch the plastic water bottles this summer. They don’t keep your water cold or your earth clean. There are many awesome reusable water bottle brands, but if you want something stylish, bkr has glass water bottles that are 100 percent recyclable, BPA-free, leak-proof, and come in the cutest colors.

6) Speaker - And we’ve got the playlist for you.

Any old speaker will do. But be sure to check out Ocean Baby linked on a previous blog and thank us later.

7) Get a book in there! - Finding one from a friend or a thrift store is a sustainable option

Some of our current reads:

Boundaries - Henry Cloud

The Sacred Search - Gary Thomas

Liturgy of the Ordinary - Tish Harrison Warren

The Little Prince - Antoine De Saint-Exupery
